On June 23, 2025, the Seoul Bankruptcy Court announced that it has approved the rehabilitation plan for TMON, an online shopping platform that has been undergoing corporate rehabilitation since a significant settlement issue arose last July. As a result of this decision, Oasis, a company specializing in early morning delivery of fresh produce, will acquire TMON.

The court's third division, presided over by Chief Judge Jeong Jun-young, stated, "We have decided to enforce the approval of TMON's rehabilitation plan." Just three days prior, on June 20, TMON's rehabilitation plan was voted down at a creditors' meeting.

The court explained that more than half of the total voting rights of rehabilitation creditors agreed to the plan, and that the acquisition funds had already been fully paid through a merger and acquisition (M&A) process prior to the approval of the rehabilitation plan. This indicates a high likelihood of successful implementation of the plan, which is in the best interest of secured creditors, rehabilitation creditors, employees, and all other stakeholders.

The rehabilitation plan submitted by TMON on May 22 includes a repayment plan for creditors using the acquisition funds of 11.6 billion KRW from Oasis. For the plan to pass, it requires the consent of at least 75% of secured creditors and 66% of rehabilitation creditors. During the recent meeting, while 100% of secured creditors agreed, the approval rate among rehabilitation creditors fell short of the required threshold. The court had previously categorized creditors into two groups: commercial creditors, consisting of small businesses and consumers, and general rehabilitation creditors. Among general rehabilitation creditors, 82.2% were in favor, but only 43.5% of commercial creditors agreed.

In April, Oasis was selected as the final acquirer of TMON.

A university professor in Chungbuk has been sentenced to three years in prison for defrauding her cohabitant during their divorce proceedings. The Cheongju District Court's Criminal Division 22, presided over by Judge Han Sang-won, found the 57-year-old professor, referred to as A, guilty of fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. 

From 2016 to 2022, A deceived her cohabitant, B, over 242 times, swindling a total of approximately 520 million won (around $460,000). A had advised B to liquidate their real estate and savings, claiming that cash would be safer in her possession. 

Additionally, A exploited her beliefs in shamanism to psychologically manipulate B, asserting that keeping cash in a house dedicated to spirits was the safest option. The court confirmed that A used the embezzled funds for personal expenses. 

The court noted, "The defendant has exerted psychological control over B for an extended period while extracting a significant amount of money. However, considering that this is A's first offense and her mental health issues have severely impaired her perception of reality, we have taken these factors into account in our sentencing."

June 22, 2025, marks the 10th anniversary of the passing of actor 판영진, who tragically ended his life after battling depression and financial struggles. He was found deceased on June 22, 2015, at 11:45 PM in his car parked in the front yard of his home in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, at the age of 58. 

A local resident discovered him and alerted emergency services. At the scene, 판영진 was seated in the driver's seat, with a used charcoal briquette on the passenger side. Although no suicide note was found, messages he sent to friends indicated his intent to take his own life. 

In his messages, he expressed feelings of despair, stating, 'Life is fleeting, there seems to be no hope in living, and I am trying to die but cannot.' Just three days before his death, he posted on social media, 'That weed is a weed, and that pine tree is a pine tree; how can a weed become a pine tree?' A month prior, he wrote, 'After enduring for 20 years in this house in Ilsan, where do I go now?' 

Authorities investigated the circumstances surrounding his death based on testimonies from his family, who revealed that he had been struggling with financial difficulties and depression. It was also reported that five months before his death, he had attempted to take his life by overdosing on sleeping pills, adding to the tragedy of his situation. 

Having debuted in 1978, 판영진 took on the lead role of a subway driver in the independent film '나비두더지' (Nabidudji) in 2006, marking his first leading role after 28 years in the industry. His untimely death left a profound impact on the community, highlighting the struggles faced by many in the entertainment industry.

Severance Hospital and Suga (real name Min Yoongi), a member of the globally renowned group BTS (방탄소년단), are collaborating to create a specialized treatment center aimed at supporting the treatment and social independence of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). On June 23, Severance Hospital held a groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Min Yoongi Treatment Center' on the first floor of the Jejunggwan building. This center will provide various programs focused on mental health for children and adolescents, including language, psychological, and behavioral therapies, while integrating clinical and research efforts.

Suga has consistently shown a commitment to charitable activities and has maintained a keen interest in mental health issues, particularly adolescent depression, throughout his career with BTS. He has been exploring ways to leverage his musical talents to provide assistance.

In November of last year, Suga began discussions with Professor Cheon Geun-ah, a leading expert in child psychiatry at Severance Hospital. Through several meetings, they recognized the need for tailored, life-cycle appropriate treatments for individuals with ASD, which cannot be achieved through short-term interventions alone. They agreed on the necessity of establishing a specialized treatment center capable of providing long-term support for over ten years, leading Suga to pledge a donation of 5 billion KRW to Severance Hospital, marking the largest donation ever made by an artist to the Severance Children's Hospital and Yonsei Medical Center.

Following this, Suga and Professor Cheon discussed the construction of the treatment center and the development of a music-based social skills training program for children and adolescents with ASD from late last year to early this year. This collaboration resulted in the creation of the 'MIND' program, which integrates musical content into existing social skills training.

The MIND program stands for enhancing interaction and sensory experiences through music, providing opportunities for social relationship formation and communication, learning to build connections within a community, and respecting individual diversity while fostering a cohesive society. Participants in this program will engage in playing instruments, singing, writing to music, and expressing their emotions and thoughts through music and writing.

From March to June of this year, Suga dedicated his weekends to working directly with children with ASD to develop the program. He played instruments alongside the children, encouraging them to match rhythms and harmonies, and facilitating emotional expression through music. He also taught them how to play instruments themselves.

As the program progressed, the children's emotional and verbal expressions significantly improved, and they developed social skills through collaboration and patience. For instance, Oh (10 years old) and Lee (12 years old), who previously showed little engagement during language therapy, began to select instruments independently and demonstrated talent in keeping rhythm.

During group sessions, diverse emotional expressions emerged. Kim (18 years old), who played the saxophone and had limited verbal and emotional expression, began to show emotions through facial expressions during collaborative activities and responded positively to the therapist's attention and praise.

The program has proven effective in helping children with limited verbal abilities form social relationships.

In the future, the Min Yoongi Treatment Center plans to enhance the MIND program and establish a self-sustaining music project model. To ensure the program's sustainability and professionalism, they will also systematize training for experts in various therapeutic fields.

Once construction of the Min Yoongi Treatment Center is completed in September, new regular program sessions will be introduced. These will include music-based social skills training for individuals with ASD and other developmental disabilities, as well as expanded sessions for existing therapies like ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) and language therapy. Additionally, clinical research and academic publications will be pursued to objectively validate the effectiveness of the MIND program.

Professor Cheon expressed gratitude for Suga's genuine contributions and volunteer work over the past few months, stating, "I am deeply impressed by Suga's consistent and sincere attitude.
