Trot Singer So Myung and Daughter So Yu Mi Join 'Dad and Me'

In a groundbreaking moment for the Korean music scene, renowned trot singer So Myung, famous for his hit song 'Bye Bye Ya,' will appear alongside his daughter So Yu Mi on the TV CHOSUN show 'Dad and Me' (아빠하고 나하고). The episode, airing on May 20 at 10 PM, features the father-daughter duo as they navigate the challenges of their musical careers.

So Yu Mi, who initially debuted as an idol before re-debuting as a trot singer in 2015, has been following in her father's footsteps for nearly a decade. However, she expressed her frustrations, stating, "My dad has high standards and a strong ambition for his work, so even when I try my best, it doesn't meet his expectations. He doesn't acknowledge my efforts, which makes it hard for me to connect with him."

Often referred to as 'So Myung's daughter,' So Yu Mi has felt the weight of her father's legacy. While she takes pride in being his daughter, it also brings a sense of pressure. Determined to carve out her own identity, she announced her decision to hold her first solo concert in Japan, a feat not previously attempted by any artist in Korea.
