Tributes Pour in for Late Singer Wheesung as Investigation Underway

The entertainment industry continues to mourn the sudden passing of singer Wheesung (휘성), who left this world just two days ago. Fellow artist Seven (세븐) expressed his condolences on March 11, stating, "May you rest in peace. I hope you find happiness there." Both artists were previously signed under YG Entertainment.

Comedian Kim Young-chul (김영철), who collaborated with Wheesung on the song "Andoenayo" (안되나용), shared his memories of the late singer. He reminisced, "I don’t have any photos together. Around 2018, we released 'Andoenayo' based on an idea from composer Gong Chan-soo. Wheesung kindly sang the opening part of his song 'Andeunayo' for us. He even made a brief appearance in the music video, and we have fond memories from 'Knowing Bros' together."

Kim continued, "Although we didn’t keep in touch, hearing the news today brought back many memories. I’ve been thinking about him all day while working." He concluded with a heartfelt message, "Wheesung, please don’t suffer and be happy there."

In 2018, Kim Young-chul released a parody of Wheesung's song titled "Andoenayo," where Wheesung showcased his signature emotional vocal style.

Broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu (장성규) also paid tribute, saying, "I sincerely wish for the repose of the deceased. I will not forget the great music."

Shin Eun-jin (심은진) from Baby V.O.X expressed her sorrow with a simple, "Goodbye, Wheesung."

Meanwhile, an autopsy on Wheesung's body is scheduled for the morning of March 12 at the National Forensic Service (국과수). The investigation aims to determine the exact cause of death, including any potential drug use. Wheesung was found in cardiac arrest at an apartment in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on March 10 at 6:29 PM, at the age of 43.

According to reports from Yonhap News on March 11, a syringe was discovered near Wheesung at the time of his discovery. The police have stated that there were no signs of foul play or external intrusion, and they have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service.

The sudden news has left Wheesung's family in deep shock and sorrow, and the funeral will be held quietly with only family, relatives, and close friends in attendance, as per the family's wishes.
