Wheesung's Death: Tributes from Fellow Artists

The music industry is mourning the loss of singer Wheesung (휘성), who was found dead at his home on March 10, 2025, at the age of 43. Fellow artists have taken to social media to express their condolences. Singer and actor Harisu shared a photo of Wheesung on her personal account, stating, "I pray for the repose of his soul."

Rapper Changmo expressed his gratitude for Wheesung's impactful music, saying, "Thank you for the wonderful music that greatly influenced my life. Rest in peace." He honored Wheesung by referencing his song 'Morning' (모닝).

Rapper Paloalto reflected on his admiration for Wheesung, recalling how he was a promising artist among R&B fans even before his debut. He shared, "It’s shocking and heartbreaking. Thank you for being part of my youth with your music."

Another rapper, San E, simply wrote, "Rest in Peace, Hyung."

Wheesung's agency, Tajo Entertainment, released a statement expressing their sorrow over the sudden news, confirming that he was found in a state of cardiac arrest at his residence in Seoul. They stated, "We are deeply saddened to announce that our artist Wheesung has left us. His family, fellow artists, and all staff at Tajo Entertainment are mourning his passing."

They also urged fans to refrain from spreading unverified rumors and speculations during this difficult time, asking for prayers for Wheesung's peaceful rest.

Wheesung debuted in 2002 with his first album 'Like a Movie' (라이크 어 무비) and gained immense popularity with hits like 'I Can't' (안 되나요..), 'With Me' (위드 미), and 'Love is Delicious' (사랑은 맛있다).

However, he faced legal troubles in 2019 when he was charged with purchasing and using propofol multiple times. In 2021, he received a one-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, which was later upheld on appeal. Despite these challenges, Wheesung continued to perform, holding a Christmas concert in December 2021 and announcing plans for a comeback in 2023.

In February 2025, he held a sold-out birthday fan meeting titled 'Happy Whee's Day' (해피 휘스 데이) and was scheduled to perform a joint concert with fellow artist KCM on March 15, just days before his untimely death.
