Tragic Incident in Jindo: Family Car Plunges into Sea, Three Bodies Found

A tragic incident occurred in Jindo, South Korea, where a family of four's car plunged into the sea. Authorities discovered three bodies inside the vehicle, believed to be those of the family members. A 49-year-old man, identified as A, was arrested in Gwangju for allegedly causing the deaths of his wife and two sons by driving their car into the water. The incident took place around 1:12 AM on June 2, when A drove the car off the dock at Jindo Port, resulting in the fatalities of his 49-year-old wife and their two high school-aged sons. The police apprehended A later that evening at approximately 9:09 PM near Yangdong Market in Gwangju.
The car was located around 30 meters from the port at 8:07 PM, with the three bodies found inside. Authorities suspect that the deceased are A's wife and two sons. Investigations suggest that A managed to escape the vehicle after it entered the water and fled the scene.
The situation came to light when a teacher from a high school in Gwangju reported that one of the sons, referred to as B, was unresponsive to calls around 2:36 PM. B was later found deceased in the car. The police believe B is A's second son. During the search for B, it was discovered that his parents and older brother were also missing. Tracking their mobile phone locations revealed they were near Jindo Port around 1 AM the previous day. Surveillance footage confirmed the family's car plunging into the sea. A police spokesperson stated, "There were clearly four people in the car, but only three bodies were found, leading us to suspect A."
Authorities searched B's home in Gwangju but did not find any suicide notes. It has been determined that the family was not recipients of basic living support.
