Tragic Incident at Reservoir: Middle School Student Dies While Rescuing Friends

A tragic accident occurred on January 13, 2025, when a group of middle school students was playing on the ice of a reservoir in Dalseong-gun, Daegu. At approximately 5:19 PM, the ice broke, causing five students to fall into the water. One of the students, identified as A (15), jumped into the reservoir to rescue his friends but was unable to escape himself. Emergency responders arrived and found A in cardiac arrest; he was transported to a hospital but unfortunately did not survive. Authorities have stated that there are currently no indications of foul play or bullying involved in the incident. They are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
