Tragic Fire Claims Life of 10-Year-Old Girl and Leaves 7-Year-Old Sister in Critical Condition in Busan Apartment

A devastating fire broke out early on June 24 in a fourth-floor apartment in the Gegeum-dong area of Busan, resulting in the death of a 10-year-old girl and leaving her 7-year-old sister in critical condition. The incident occurred around 4:15 AM while the children's parents were away at work. Neighbors reported hearing the fire alarm and noticed smoke coming from the apartment, prompting them to call for help. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes, but tragically, the older sister, referred to as A (10), was found deceased, while her younger sister, B (7), was rushed to the hospital and is currently unconscious. Authorities have stated that there are no signs of foul play, and it is believed that the cause of death for the deceased girl was carbon monoxide poisoning due to smoke inhalation. The fire is suspected to have started in the living room and spread to other areas of the apartment, where the children were sleeping. Police and fire officials are conducting a joint investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
