Tragic Family Murder in Yongin: Man Arrested After Killing Five Relatives
A shocking incident occurred in Yongin, South Korea, where a man in his 50s, identified as A, allegedly murdered five members of his family, including his elderly parents, wife, and two daughters. The police reported that A is suspected of strangling his family members after administering sleeping pills to them. The tragic discovery was made on April 15, 2025, at around 9:55 AM in an apartment located in the Suji District of Yongin. The victims were found with signs of strangulation, and a note from A was discovered at the scene, indicating his intention to end his life after killing his family.
Following the incident, A fled to Gwangju, approximately 240 kilometers away, where he attempted to take his own life but was found unconscious after consuming sleeping pills. He was apprehended by the police at around 11:10 AM in a Gwangju office building. A had sent a text message to his sister claiming that the family had committed suicide, which prompted her to contact emergency services.
Authorities believe that A's actions were motivated by despair over business failures, leading him to accumulate significant debt. The police are currently investigating the exact motives behind the crime, including A's financial situation and communication records. Residents of the apartment complex expressed their shock, stating they never imagined such a horrific event could occur in their community. An autopsy is planned for the deceased family members to gather more information about the case.
