Tragic Drowning Incident in Nha Trang Involves Korean Tourist

A tragic drowning incident occurred in Nha Trang, Vietnam, where a South Korean tourist lost his life while vacationing at a resort. The victim's family has criticized the resort for its inadequate response during the rescue efforts. On June 27, a post was shared in a domestic travel community by an individual identified as A, who revealed that her brother-in-law drowned two days prior during a family trip. A stated, "I heard this resort is quite popular, even on social media."
A recounted that the resort initially refused to release security camera footage, forcing the family to go to the police to gain access. She described a harrowing scene where her brother-in-law struggled in the water, clinging to a single tube for 20 minutes while lifeguards appeared to be inactive.
"They only noticed him sinking after a significant delay, and their response was beyond inadequate, causing them to miss the critical golden hour for rescue," A claimed. She added that despite performing CPR after bringing him to shore, an ambulance was not called for 30 minutes, arriving only an hour after the incident.
A expressed frustration, stating, "The resort is now trying to deflect blame, suggesting he might have had a heart condition." She also mentioned that local authorities seemed to side with the resort when they visited the police station to voice their concerns.
With a four-year-old child having witnessed the tragedy and the family needing to arrange the funeral, A emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth to help ease their grief. The South Korean government is currently providing consular assistance and has requested a swift and fair investigation from local authorities, according to a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
