Third-Generation Group Member Accused of Drugged Driving During Probation

A member of a well-known group, identified as Kim, has been handed over to prosecutors for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs while on probation for a previous drug-related conviction. Kim, who serves as an executive at a prominent agricultural machinery company, was reported by the Gangnam Police in Seoul on December 2, 2024.

The allegations stem from two traffic accidents that occurred on July 27, 2024, in Gangnam. Kim is accused of causing a minor collision while under the influence around 2:30 PM in Nonhyeon-dong. After the initial incident, he was taken in for questioning by the police but refused to undergo a drug test and was released. Approximately two hours later, he was involved in another traffic accident on a different road in Gangnam.

Following the second accident, police conducted a drug test on Kim, which revealed the presence of psychoactive substances. Although he was initially referred to the prosecution on October 12, 2024, further investigation was requested by the prosecutors, leading to his re-submission on November 25, 2024.

Previously, Kim had been sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years, in October 2023 for using liquid cannabis and synthetic drugs in the United States. During the police investigation, he claimed that he was taking medication that had been properly prescribed to him.
