Theatrical Production 'Cherry Orchard' to Tour Hong Kong and Singapore

The play 'Cherry Orchard' (벚꽃동산), produced by LG Arts Center, is set to embark on an international tour starting with performances in Hong Kong in September and Singapore in November, followed by shows in Australia and New York next year.
The production, which premiered in Seoul in June 2024, attracted over 40,000 viewers and achieved a remarkable 95% occupancy rate. This innovative adaptation of Anton Chekhov's classic play, originally set in late Imperial Russia, has been reimagined by director Simon Stone to take place in 21st-century Seoul. The cast features popular Korean actors such as Jeon Do-yeon (전도연) and Park Hae-soo (박해수), who are well-known internationally through various OTT platforms.
The first international performance will be held from September 19 to 21 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre as part of the '2025 Hong Kong Asia Plus Festival.' Following that, the production will be staged at the Esplanade Theatre in Singapore from November 7 to 9. The original cast, including Jeon Do-yeon, Park Hae-soo, and other actors like Son Sang-kyu (손상규), Choi Hee-seo (최희서), and Nam Yoon-ho (남윤호), will reprise their roles. Next year, the play is also scheduled to be featured at the Adelaide Festival in Australia and at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City.
