The Turbulent Reunion of Former Trainees in 'Namib'

The highly anticipated Genie TV original drama 'Namib' (나미브), set to premiere on December 23, 2024, features the precarious reunion of former trainees Ryu Un (려운) and Lee Gi-taek (이기택). They portray Yu Jin-woo, a trainee released from Pandora Entertainment, and Chris, a staff member at Club Muse, respectively.

Yu Jin-woo, despite his musical talent, faces repeated failures in debuting and ultimately finds himself homeless after being let go by the company. Compounding his struggles, he carries a debt of 200 million won owed by his parents to the agency, forcing him to fight for survival.

In his time of need, Yu Jin-woo recalls Chris, who was once a promising trainee but abandoned his dreams due to a past incident and now leads a different life, having turned away from the light of his aspirations.

Though their lives have diverged, both Yu Jin-woo and Chris share the painful experience of having given up their dreams due to harsh realities. Chris, who has always cared for Yu Jin-woo like a brother, extends a helping hand to ensure Yu Jin-woo can find refuge in his territory.

Adding to the tension, Yu Jin-woo receives a scouting offer from Kang Soo-hyun (고현정), the former head of Pandora Entertainment, which complicates his relationship with Chris. As Yu Jin-woo grapples with his desire to shine again, he faces the daunting challenge of making a decision without a place to call home.

'Namib' tells the story of the meeting between the dismissed star producer Kang Soo-hyun and the long-term trainee Yu Jin-woo as they pursue their respective goals. The drama will air its first episode on December 23 at 10 PM on ENA, with streaming available for free on KT Genie TV and Genie TV Mobile immediately after the broadcast.
