The immensely popular Naver Webtoon 'The Remarried Empress' has officially announced its series adaptation, boasting a stellar cast that includes Shin Min-a (신민아), Ju Ji-hoon (주지훈), Lee Jong-suk (이종석), and Lee Se-young (이세영). With a staggering global view count of approximately 2.6 billion as of December 2024, this webtoon has become a definitive representation of its genre.
Based on a web novel, 'The Remarried Empress' tells the story of Na Bi-ae, the empress of the Eastern Empire, who is informed of her divorce by Emperor Sobieshu. In exchange for accepting the divorce, she demands permission to remarry Prince Heinri of the Western Kingdom. The plot thickens with the arrival of Rasta, a runaway slave who becomes Sobieshu's concubine, igniting the central conflict. Since its web novel debut in 2018, the story has gained unprecedented popularity, expanding into a webtoon and being translated into ten languages, captivating readers worldwide.
Shin Min-a will portray the intelligent and graceful Empress Na Bi-ae, while Ju Ji-hoon takes on the role of Emperor Sobieshu, a symbol of absolute power and Na Bi-ae's husband.
