The Highly Anticipated OST for 'Harbin' Releases Today
The much-anticipated original soundtrack (OST) for the blockbuster film '하얼빈' (Harbin) is set to be released today, January 7, at 12 PM. Following its premiere, 'Harbin' has been on a remarkable box office run, rapidly approaching 4 million admissions. The film has generated buzz among audiences, particularly for its majestic and sacred musical score, which has received positive acclaim.
The music for 'Harbin' is orchestrated by Jo Young-wook, a renowned music director known for his collaborations with director Woo Min-ho on films like '남산의 부장들' (The Man Standing Next) and '내부자들' (The Insider). Jo has also worked on various acclaimed films such as '헤어질 결심' (Decision to Leave, 2022), '공작' (The Drug King, 2018), '아가씨' (The Handmaiden, 2016), '박쥐' (Thirst, 2009), and '친절한 금자씨' (Lady Vengeance, 2005). The OST features 18 tracks, with orchestral pieces recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, famous for its work with The Beatles.
The score intricately captures the internal struggles and conflicts of the character Ahn Jung-geun through strings and woodwinds, enhancing the film's atmosphere with a classical foundation that underscores the long journey of independence fighters. Notably, during the pivotal moment when Ahn approaches Ito Hirobumi at Harbin Station, the addition of electric guitar to the classical backdrop adds a thrilling and exhilarating touch. The 'Harbin' OST will be available on all major music platforms, including Genie Music, starting today at noon.
Set in 1909, 'Harbin' depicts a tense chase filled with suspicion between those heading to Harbin for a singular purpose and those pursuing them. Since its release on December 15, the film has maintained the top spot in pre-bookings for 23 consecutive days and has dominated the box office for 14 days straight.
