The Disappearance of Actress Choi Sung-hee: New Revelations of Threats Before Vanishing

In a shocking revelation, it has come to light that Choi Sung-hee, a theater actress who went missing eight years ago, received threats prior to her disappearance. The case was featured on tvN's program 'I Wanted to Say This' (이 말을 꼭 하고 싶었어요) on December 16, 2024, highlighting the unresolved mystery surrounding the disappearance of a newlywed couple.

The couple, who lived in Busan, vanished without a trace after returning home. Notably, no CCTV footage captured them, and despite the passage of eight years, no evidence of their whereabouts has been found.

Choi Sung-hee's mother expressed her ongoing heartache, stating that just hearing about the case brings back painful memories. After much persuasion, she shared her grief while looking at childhood photos of her daughter.

The parents revealed their disbelief over their daughter's sudden disappearance, stating, "We knew about this incident and everything that came with it. Knowing the mental anguish she must have endured still keeps me awake at night."

They recounted how their daughter, who was thriving in her acting career, abruptly married a man and then lost contact during their honeymoon phase, prompting them to file a missing person report.

A friend of Choi Sung-hee, who had worked with her in theater, recounted that she disappeared just three days before a scheduled performance. The friend received a text from her indicating she could not perform, and after a conversation with Choi's husband, her phone was turned off.

Another friend revealed that Choi had received threatening messages before her wedding, including statements like, "I will kill you if you get married" and "I will do everything to prevent your marriage." The threats were allegedly from her husband's ex-girlfriend. Choi's husband had informed her that his ex wanted to speak with her, raising suspicions about his role in the situation.

Despite the ex-girlfriend living abroad with another partner, she reportedly could not bear the thought of her former boyfriend marrying someone else, leading her to threaten Choi. She even returned to Korea around the time the couple went missing, but no evidence of her presence was found, and she claimed they were merely friends during police investigations. Ultimately, she was released due to a lack of evidence against her.
