'The Call You Just Made' Yu Yeon-seok's True Love for Chae Soo-bin Revealed

In the newly premiered MBC drama 'The Call You Just Made' (지금 거신 전화는), which aired its first episode on November 22, 2024, Yu Yeon-seok's character, Baek Sa-eon, finds himself entangled in a mysterious incident that unveils his genuine feelings for Chae Soo-bin's character, Hong Hee-joo.
Hong Hee-joo works as a sign language interpreter in a news agency, and her life takes a dramatic turn when breaking news arrives featuring the youngest spokesperson from the presidential office, Baek Sa-eon. The producers of the show express their admiration, stating, "We keep showcasing Baek Sa-eon. He’s the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and with him, we can dominate the narrative."
However, Hong Hee-joo's reaction is notably different. As a former anchor, Baek Sa-eon delivers a firm briefing, stating, "The government considers their actions as inhumane and will mobilize all resources to rescue our citizens," and assures that no lives will be lost. In a surprising moment, Hong Hee-joo raises her middle finger at him.
Later, Hong Hee-joo is kidnapped, with the abductor using a voice-modulated phone to threaten her. The kidnapper ominously declares, "I’m going to kill your wife. Don’t hang up. If you do, I’ll stab her right now." Yet, Baek Sa-eon remains unfazed, responding, "Go ahead. Just talk, don’t just threaten. Whatever ransom you ask for is up to you, but I won’t pay a dime. Don’t call again."
Angered, the kidnapper calls back, stating, "Do you know who my wife is? It doesn’t matter if she’s one of two or three. The wife Baek Sa-eon cherishes must be you, or you won’t survive," and taunts him about killing his wife. Baek Sa-eon coldly replies, "Go ahead and kill her. Call me when you have a body."
The next day, under pressure from Baek Sa-eon, Hong Hee-joo is forced to attend a party. He warns her, "Don’t be nervous. They’re not looking at you; they’re looking at me. Remember, there must be no misunderstandings or rumors about our relationship." Despite her recent trauma, Hong Hee-joo participates as a sign language interpreter, believing Baek Sa-eon thinks her kidnapping was a scam.
A twist occurs when Hong Hee-joo breaks her silence, fueled by anger. She even seizes the kidnapper's phone and calls Baek Sa-eon, saying, "Do you understand? You should be held accountable for your marriage because of your private life. The world doesn’t know your wife. Hong Hee-joo isn’t your real wife; she was your fiancée who ran away the day before the wedding. No one knows where she is now. Isn’t it absurd to marry someone who was almost your sister-in-law?" This revelation leaves Baek Sa-eon stunned.
Baek Sa-eon, however, does not back down. He slams his fist against the wall, declaring, "Why would I abandon Hong Hee-joo? Do you think I would entertain such a ridiculous suggestion? You’re even dragging my person into this." This moment reveals his deep feelings for Hong Hee-joo.
