The Boyz's Ju Haknyeon Issues Apology Following Controversy

Ju Haknyeon, a member of the K-pop group The Boyz, has announced his departure from the group amid a personal controversy involving a Japanese adult film actress. In a handwritten apology posted on his Instagram early on June 19, he expressed regret for causing concern among fans and the public due to recent articles about him.
He confirmed that he attended a drinking gathering with acquaintances on May 30, but firmly denied any involvement in illegal activities or the rumors of prostitution that have surfaced. Ju stated, 'I deeply reflect on my actions and sincerely apologize to those who were shocked by the news.'
Ju Haknyeon rose to fame after participating in the Mnet audition program Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017, debuting with The Boyz later that year in December. He had announced a temporary halt to group activities on June 16, but just two days later, he faced backlash over his association with influencer Asuka Kirara, leading to his exit from The Boyz. Media outlets have reported allegations regarding his involvement in prostitution.
In response to the situation, the CEO of The Boyz's agency, 100 Entertainment, issued a statement on June 18, apologizing for the distress caused to fans and the public. He acknowledged the company's shortcomings in managing the personal lives and conduct of its artists and expressed a commitment to strengthening their management systems and ethical training to restore trust with fans and the public moving forward.
