The Boyz's Ju Haknyeon Faces Controversy, Company Issues Apology

On June 18, 2025, Cha Ga-won, the CEO of the entertainment company One Hundred, issued an official apology regarding the recent controversies surrounding Ju Haknyeon, a member of the K-pop group The Boyz. In a statement released late that night, Cha expressed sincere regret for the distress caused to fans and the public due to various incidents involving the artist and other members of the group.
Cha acknowledged the company's shortcomings in managing the personal lives and conduct of its artists, stating, "One Hundred humbly accepts that we have been inadequate in overseeing the private lives and attitudes of our artists and members. We recognize our heavy responsibility and deeply reflect on these matters."
He further committed to strengthening the management system regarding artists' personal lives and attitudes, emphasizing the need for ethical training and internal system improvements. Cha assured that the company would adopt a more responsible approach to restore and maintain the trust of fans and the public regarding all aspects surrounding their artists.
The Boyz has recently been embroiled in several controversies. On June 16, Ju Haknyeon announced a temporary hiatus from group activities due to personal reasons. However, reports surfaced revealing that he was seen embracing Japanese adult film actress Asuka Kirara at a bar in Japan, which shocked fans. Just two days after his announcement, Ju Haknyeon decided to leave the group. Allegations also emerged suggesting that his relationship with Asuka Kirara was not merely romantic but involved transactional elements.
Additionally, fellow member Ju Yeon faced backlash after quickly apologizing for dating rumors with actress Cynthia, which led to accusations of deceiving fans. Another member, Sunwoo, found himself in controversy after pointing out his AirPods to a security guard, which raised questions about his character, prompting him to issue an apology as well.
