The Anticipated Film 'All-Knowing Reader's Perspective' Unveils at Production Conference

What if the novel known only to you became a reality? This philosophical question is at the heart of the upcoming summer blockbuster 'All-Knowing Reader's Perspective' (전지적 독자 시점), which blurs the lines between reality and fantasy. The film, directed by Kim Byung-woo and produced by Realize Pictures, is set to captivate audiences with its unique premise and engaging storyline, especially among fans of the original web novel.
On June 17, a production conference for 'All-Knowing Reader's Perspective' was held at Lotte Cinema in Gunja-dong, Seoul. The event featured key cast members including Ahn Hyo-seop, who plays the sole reader Kim Dok-ja, Lee Min-ho as the protagonist Yoo Jung-hyuk, and Chae Soo-bin as Yoo Sang-ah, who confronts the reality of the novel alongside Kim Dok-ja. Other cast members included Shin Seung-ho as Lee Hyun-seong, Nana as Jung Hee-won, and director Kim Byung-woo.
Based on the globally popular web novel by the husband-and-wife writing duo known as Sing Shong, 'All-Knowing Reader's Perspective' tells the story of a world that transforms into the novel itself on the day it concludes, where the only reader must fight for survival alongside newly formed allies. With its fresh and original concept of a fictional world becoming real, the film is set to hit theaters in July.
As one of the summer's most anticipated films, 'All-Knowing Reader's Perspective' boasts a star-studded cast including Ahn Hyo-seop, Lee Min-ho, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, and Nana, all of whom are prominent figures in the Korean film industry. The film is directed by Kim Byung-woo, known for his immersive storytelling in films like 'The Terror Live' and 'PMC: The Bunker', and produced by Realize Pictures, the studio behind the hit 'Along with the Gods' series.
During the conference, Ahn Hyo-seop shared his excitement about portraying a character who knows the spoilers of the novel while trying to save a world on the brink of destruction. He expressed curiosity about how the film would be realized, noting its unprecedented scale in Korean cinema. He appreciated the film's philosophical message about collective survival rather than individualism.
Kim Byung-woo candidly discussed the pressures of directing his first major film, admitting that while he felt the weight of expectations, he aimed to create a project that he would enjoy watching himself. He also reflected on the challenge of portraying Kim Dok-ja as a handsome character, emphasizing the importance of relatability in his portrayal.
Lee Min-ho remarked on the relevance of the film's themes in today's increasingly isolated society, suggesting that the emotional journey of overcoming adversity together is a narrative that resonates deeply with contemporary audiences. He acknowledged the challenge of embodying a character that is inherently attractive, which he found to be a significant hurdle.
Chae Soo-bin and Shin Seung-ho both expressed their enthusiasm for the script, with Chae noting how engaging the story was from the first read, while Shin described the experience of reading the script on a plane as captivating.
Nana highlighted her trust in director Kim Byung-woo and the production team, believing they would deliver a film of significant scale. She admitted to being unfamiliar with the original work but found the script refreshing and exciting, particularly the action elements that she was eager to explore.
As the film approaches its release on July 23, anticipation continues to build around 'All-Knowing Reader's Perspective', promising a unique blend of action and fantasy that challenges the boundaries of storytelling.
