'Baek Jong-won's Les Misérables' is heating up as contestants face rising tensions during their third mission. The latest episode, aired on December 7, 2024, revealed the results of the first mission and introduced the second mission.
The first mission involved slicing onions, with the top performers earning an A grade. Contestants who achieved this included Yang Kyung-min (4), Son Woo-sung (14), Yoo Ji-min (15), and Joo Hyun-wook (16). B grade was awarded to Choi Yoon-sung (2), Kim Dong-jun (7), Ha Jin-woo (13), and Oh Gang-tae (17). C grade went to Kim Guk-heon (6), Choi Jeong-hyun (8), Yoo Hyo-deok (10), and Lim Young-jun (18). The remaining contestants, including Seong Hyun-woo (1), Jeon Dong-jin (3), Oh Chang-seok (9), and Jo Do-yeon (12), received D grades, while those not called were classified as F grade but were not eliminated.
Following the grading, the contestants expressed their feelings about their accommodations, likening them to prison cells. Each room was marked with a label indicating their grade.
The chefs showcased their culinary skills using onions, with Baek Jong-won explaining that the chefs prepared dishes to avoid wasting the onions used in the mission, encouraging contestants to think about their own cooking styles.
After a brief break, the second mission commenced, where contestants faced the challenge of catching anchovies. Baek Jong-won emphasized the importance of understanding ingredients in cooking, urging contestants to learn and return with new knowledge.
Some contestants expressed fear about venturing into the dark sea, with Kim Hyun-jun admitting he would have considered quitting if there had been a signal for elimination nearby. Despite the challenges, they put forth their best efforts in the anchovy-catching task.
While the contestants battled the elements, Baek Jong-won prepared anchovy noodle soup, having started his work at 5 AM to ensure a warm meal for the participants. He later asked them about their experiences, explaining that the mission was not just about catching anchovies but about storytelling and understanding the process, which he deemed a valuable asset.
The next mission was announced, themed 'Creating a Seafood Feast,' where teams must prepare dishes for guests using the ingredients they caught. They have 16 hours to complete this task, and the stakes are high, as one team could face elimination.
However, just five hours into the mission, signs of conflict emerged within one team, and by the seven-hour mark, deeper issues had surfaced. After 19 hours, shocking evaluations were expected. More details about the upcoming mission will be revealed in the next episode.
