'Evil Relationship' is a crime thriller that follows the intertwined fates of six individuals caught in a web of unavoidable misfortune. Based on a webtoon of the same name, the series was adapted for television by director Lee Il-hyung, who also penned the script.

Reflecting on the show, Park Hae-soo admitted, "Initially, I felt too much pressure to watch it right after it was released, so I waited until all the episodes were out to binge-watch it. Each episode features different roles for the actors, and I found it enjoyable to experience the flow of the story all at once."

In the series, Park plays the role of 'the witness,' a man who becomes embroiled in a cover-up after witnessing a mysterious accident. He shared that he was drawn to the project because of its intense characters and deep narrative. "At first, I found the story fascinating because it was filled with strong, villainous characters. Upon a second reading, I appreciated the underlying message about the nature of evil. I realized that while the characters are quite wicked, there’s a comedic aspect to their foolishness that I found appealing. It felt almost like a fable, allowing for a third-person perspective that highlighted the absurdity of their choices. I thought it would be interesting to portray that, and the director shared this vision as well. Instead of presenting the characters in a deeply disturbing manner, we aimed to create a scenario where viewers could laugh at the foolish decisions made by these characters."

Having received acclaim for his portrayal of a villain, Park Hae-soo expressed his desire to stay grounded despite the praise. "I try not to get too carried away with the positive feedback. I don’t actively seek out reviews, but I do hear about them from those around me. It seems that people appreciate my character's development throughout the series. I felt a certain pressure regarding how my character would evolve. I wondered if I effectively conveyed the nuances we discussed with the director. The character's transformation was something I didn’t force; rather, I focused on the choices he made and the direction of his thoughts."

He noted that the physical changes in his character during the latter part of the series made it easier to portray him. "Wearing a mask and altering my physicality helped me embody the character more naturally. As the character's goals became clearer, he began to emerge more distinctly. One of my initial challenges was creating a character who felt somewhat simple-minded, like a rural youth with sociopathic tendencies. I had many discussions with the director about this. Fortunately, the cold weather helped me find the right vibe for the character, as I bought some earmuffs that matched my outfit perfectly, which contributed to the character's authenticity."

Park also highlighted the energy he felt from his co-stars, particularly Lee Kwang-soo. "Meeting Kwang-soo was significant for me. I believe he has a great energy that translates well on stage. His natural immersion in acting was a tremendous help during our scenes together. It was a crucial moment for me, and I found our chemistry to be very enjoyable. Everyone in the cast brought their own energy, but I particularly felt a new dynamic when working with Shin Min-a."

He recalled a particularly moving scene where he had to hail a taxi outside a hospital. "In that moment, I realized that even a strong villain can be intimidated when faced with another villain. It was interesting to see how a powerful character reacts when confronted with light and goodness, leading to a sense of fear and avoidance. This realization came through naturally in my performance, as I found myself instinctively avoiding eye contact. When I later encountered Shin Min-a's character in an alley, I instinctively stepped back. In previous roles, I would take the initiative in action, but her energy made this experience unique."

As he continues to leave a mark with intense roles, Park Hae-soo expressed his aspirations as an actor. "I definitely have ambitions as an actor. I also have a desire to take on warmer roles. I would love to hear my son call me 'Dad' while watching a heartwarming story, although he hasn’t seen my work on Netflix yet. I find myself drawn to extreme characters, but I also have hopes for more uplifting projects. I feel like I haven’t shown much of that side yet, aside from 'Prison Playbook,' which is still set in a prison."

He also shared his thoughts on being dubbed a 'Netflix actor.' "Many of my projects have been released on Netflix. I carefully choose my roles and consider the stories I want to tell. With the pandemic, it seems like many productions have found their way to Netflix. I’ve been fortunate to have good opportunities and hear positive feedback. I appreciate the label of 'Netflix actor,' but I also have many upcoming projects, so I hope to meet more audiences in the future. I used to think it was funny to be called a 'Netflix son' as I age. Honestly, I don’t mind any title as long as it’s convenient for the viewers."

Outside of his work, Park Hae-soo described himself as somewhat clumsy and laid-back. "I tend to keep to myself and don’t engage much in cultural activities. I usually only talk with my team. I haven’t gone out much. In the past, I struggled with the emotional weight of my roles, which would linger at home. Now, I try to leave those feelings outside. When I come home, I’m busy with chores and toys, so I have to disconnect from those emotions. Interestingly, playing a villain can be a form of stress relief for me, allowing me to express myself freely."

As he approaches his mid-40s, Park Hae-soo reflected on his growth. "I’m starting to let go a bit. In the past, I felt a strong need to succeed and do well. Now, I’m broadening my perspective on community, whether in film or drama. As a person, my thoughts about my child and their education have become more significant. I wonder what kind of life they will lead and what the world will be like in 10 or 20 years. I think about what qualities are important and whether going to college is crucial. I still have a desire to challenge myself as an actor, whether in melodramas or warm stories like 'Bokssak Sogasseuda.' I want to encounter more interesting projects on stage. My ambition for roles remains strong."
