Teen Fined for Creating and Distributing Deepfake Pornography of Classmate

A 19-year-old male student, referred to as A, has been fined 5 million won by the Gwangju District Court for creating and distributing deepfake pornography using a photo of a female classmate, B. The court found that A used B's image to produce explicit content and sent it to an unidentified individual, who then posted it on social media. Additionally, A fabricated sexual messages that appeared to be written by B. Judge An Ji-yeon noted the severity of the crime and the significant emotional distress caused to B, but also acknowledged A's remorse and his request to delete the posts shortly after they were made public, which influenced the sentencing decision.
