Teen Bestselling Author Baek Eunbyeol Joins Honor Society with Generous Donation

Baek Eunbyeol (백은별), a 16-year-old bestselling author, has officially joined the Honor Society (아너 소사이어티), a prestigious group for high-value donors, after pledging a donation of over 100 million KRW (approximately $84,000). This makes her the youngest member of the Honor Society under the Love of Sharing Foundation (사랑의열매) in Seoul.

On July 18, 2025, the Love of Sharing Foundation announced that Baek made her generous commitment the day before. The membership ceremony took place at the Hall of Fame (명예의 전당) in the Love of Sharing headquarters located in Jung-gu, Seoul. The funds donated by Baek will be utilized to assist vulnerable communities and those in need through the foundation's initiatives.

Baek began her writing career in 2022 when she published her debut novel, "Time Limit" (시한부), while in the second year of middle school. The book, which sensitively portrays a teenager grappling with depression and thoughts of suicide, quickly became a bestseller, holding the number one spot in the youth category for 20 consecutive weeks.

Since then, she has released several new works, including "Growing Pains" (성장통), "As Long as I Remember" (기억하는 한 가장 오래), and "The Sea of Reflection" (윤슬의 바다), which explore the confusion and growth of her peers, expanding her readership.

Baek expressed her desire to give back to society, stating, "I wanted to return the love I received from my readers. I hope to inspire my peers to dream of becoming writers and to create works that can provide comfort and empathy to those who are struggling. I believe this can make the world a better place."

The Honor Society, established in December 2007, is a group for individuals who have donated over 100 million KRW or have pledged to donate that amount within five years. Currently, it has 3,709 members and plays a significant role in promoting a culture of giving in South Korea.
