Taiwanese Star Wang Dalu Arrested on Attempted Murder Charges

The popular Taiwanese actor Wang Dalu (王大陸) has been arrested on charges of attempted murder, as reported by local media outlets including Liberty Times and TVBS on March 4, 2025. The incident dates back to April of last year when Wang was involved in a conflict with an Uber driver at a Taiwan airport. Wang, who was using a Tesla, became upset over the condition of the vehicle and the driver's service, leading to a heated argument. After arriving at his destination, he left personal belongings in the car and, unable to open the Tesla's door, began banging on the window in frustration, escalating the confrontation with the driver.

Following this altercation, Wang allegedly solicited a wealthy acquaintance to assault the driver and the ride-sharing company’s staff, resulting in serious injuries that required hospitalization for the victims. This incident came to light during a police investigation into Wang's alleged attempts to evade military service by presenting false medical documentation claiming he suffered from heart disease.

Wang was subsequently arrested for this offense and was released on bail of 150,000 New Taiwan Dollars (approximately 6,500 USD) after undergoing a prosecutor's inquiry. During the investigation, police obtained Wang's phone, which revealed evidence of his involvement in the assault, including video footage of the attack on the driver.

Wang was scheduled to begin his military service on March 13, but his arrest on attempted murder charges has cast doubt on his enlistment plans. Born in 1991, Wang Dalu debuted as a model in 2008 and rose to fame in 2015 with the film 'Our Times' (我的少女時代). He has since appeared in popular productions such as 'The Last Hero in China' (英雄本色4) and 'It Started with a Kiss' (惡作劇之吻). He is also known for his close friendship with Seungri (승리), a former member of the K-pop group BIGBANG, who was embroiled in the Burning Sun scandal.
