Taiwanese Actress and Wife of K-pop Star Passes Away Amid Controversy

The tragic passing of Taiwanese actress 서희원 (Shen Hsi Yuan), who was married to K-pop star 구준엽 (Koo Jun Yup), has sparked allegations against her ex-husband 왕샤오페이 (Wang Xiao Fei). On February 4, Chinese actress 장잉잉 (Zhang Ying Ying) took to her Weibo account to reveal details about 서희원 and 왕샤오페이’s tumultuous marriage. She claimed that 서희원 changed her diet from vegetarian to meat-eater to conceive children and financially supported 왕샤오페이’s business ventures, even risking her life during childbirth.
장잉잉 further alleged that 서희원 faced ridicule for her post-pregnancy body and was forced to follow 왕샤오페이’s filming schedule without proper postpartum care. Despite suffering from rhinitis, which made it difficult for her to cope with Beijing's smog, she was reportedly subjected to further distress when 왕샤오페이 opened windows to let in the polluted air. Upon returning to Taiwan, she was labeled a 'Taiwan independence supporter' and faced harassment.
According to 장잉잉, after their divorce, 서희원 sought to sever ties with 왕샤오페i’s family, but they continued to interfere in her life, spreading rumors even until her last moments. She expressed outrage, stating that all the pain 서희원 endured stemmed from 왕샤오페이.
장잉잉 also accused 왕샤오페이 of pressuring 서희원 into four pregnancies despite her declining health, and claimed he physically abused her during these times. She alleged that he manipulated public opinion against her and exploited her celebrity status for his gain, leading to severe stress and health issues for 서희원.
The actress married 왕샤오페이 in 2011 and had two children before their divorce in 2021. In 2022, she announced her marriage to 구준엽. Sadly, she passed away on February 2 while traveling in Japan due to pneumonia caused by the flu.
