Taiwanese Actress and Wife of Gu Jun-yeop, Shih Wei-ling, Passes Away at 48

The sudden passing of Shih Wei-ling (서희원), a Taiwanese actress and wife of Gu Jun-yeop (구준엽), has prompted an outpouring of condolences from her colleagues in the entertainment industry. According to a report from Taiwanese media ETtoday on February 3, the family is currently in Japan, where the funeral will be held. After cremation, her remains will be transported back to Taiwan. The family is still discussing the details of the farewell ceremony and other arrangements. Shih Wei-ling was 48 years old.

On the same day, Hong Kong star Andy Lau (유덕화) paid tribute to her via social media. Lau and Shih Wei-ling had previously worked together in the film "Future Police X". He expressed, "I remember Shih Wei-ling, who touched many hearts and was loved by all," and shared a photo of them together, wishing for her to rest in peace.

Popular Taiwanese actor Wu Zhongxuan (우중쉬안) also sent a message saying, "I hope she has a good journey," while actor Zhu Xiaotian (주효천) expressed his disbelief at the news, stating it felt like a bolt from the blue.

Gu Jun-yeop and Shih Wei-ling made headlines in 2022 when they announced their surprise marriage. The couple had a romantic history spanning 20 years, having dated in the past before parting ways. They reunited after Shih Wei-ling's divorce and eventually tied the knot. Their dramatic love story captivated not only fans in Korea but also netizens across the Chinese-speaking world, as Gu Jun-yeop split his time between Korea and Taiwan.

Following the news of her passing, Gu Jun-yeop spoke to Daily Sports, confirming the tragic news and expressing his sorrow, stating, "This is not fake news; I am not okay." Shih Wei-ling's sister, broadcaster Shih Hsi-chi (서희제), later released an official statement confirming her sister's death.
