Sunye of Wonder Girls Sparks Debate with Reunion Comments

Sunye, the former member of the iconic girl group Wonder Girls (원더걸스), has stirred up discussions with her recent comments about a potential reunion. During her appearance on MBC's 'Radio Star' (라디오스타) on March 12, she shared updates about her solo activities without a manager. When asked by host Kim Gura about the possibility of a Wonder Girls reunion, Sunye responded, "It's not that everyone has lost interest. If the right opportunity arises, I believe we could come together again."
Sunye debuted with Wonder Girls in 2007 and officially left the group in July 2015. She married a Canadian missionary in 2013 and is now a mother to three daughters. While her marriage was not the sole reason for her departure from the group, it is undeniable that her family life impacted her ability to participate in group activities. This has led to mixed reactions from fans, with some expressing disappointment while others continue to support her future endeavors.
In a previous interview on the YouTube channel 'Jipdaesung' (집대성), Sunye expressed her desire to clear up misunderstandings, stating, "While I can't say I have no desire to resolve misunderstandings, I believe that in time, things will naturally be clarified. My decision to leave was respected by the members, which was what mattered most to me." She emphasized the importance of her former group members thriving in their individual careers, saying, "I admire their determination and think that’s what truly matters. Misunderstandings will eventually be resolved when the time is right."
Sunye made her return to the entertainment scene in 2021 through the tvN show 'Mom is an Idol' (엄마는 아이돌) and has since been actively involved in musicals and variety shows.
