Stylist Kim Woo-ri Deletes Controversial Comments Amid 'Red Scare' Debate

Stylist Kim Woo-ri has taken steps to delete comments from her social media following the escalating controversy surrounding her use of the term '빨갱이' (red). On January 3, she posted a message stating, "The people we need to take down first are the 빨갱이들 (reds)," alongside a photo of protesters gathered outside the residence of President Yoon Suk-yeol.

The situation has intensified as the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission failed to execute an arrest warrant for President Yoon, who is facing charges of insurrection. The area outside the presidential residence has become a battleground for opposing protests, with some calling for his impeachment while others rally against it.

Opinions are divided on who Kim Woo-ri refers to as '빨갱이'—whether it pertains to those supporting or opposing the impeachment. In response to a comment asking, "Who are the 빨갱이? The ones holding American flags?" she replied, "Do you really need to ask? Every citizen of South Korea knows that the 빨갱이 are the main enemy."

The term '빨갱이' has sparked significant debate, leading Kim to delete many of the negative comments on her posts while leaving those related to product inquiries intact. Currently, Kim Woo-ri continues her work as a stylist.
