Students Protest Professor's Dress Code Regulations at Graduation Exhibition

Students at a university in Incheon are voicing strong opposition after a professor imposed strict dress code requirements for a graduation exhibition. Following the controversy, the university has initiated an investigation into the matter.

On the 22nd, it was reported that the university has begun a formal inquiry into Professor A, who had announced specific dress code rules and threatened to deduct points for non-compliance. This decision came after a vote conducted by the student council on the 19th, where 2,257 out of 2,292 students (98.5%) supported the investigation.

The university is currently conducting a comprehensive survey involving the student council and students from the relevant department. If any violations by Professor A are confirmed, the university plans to take appropriate action.

Students from the department recently raised concerns about Professor A's teaching methods on the anonymous community platform Everytime. They claimed that the professor enforced excessive dress code regulations during the graduation exhibition presentations. Reports indicate that the dress code included stipulations such as 'no makeup, no glasses, and deductions for partial hair dye.' These regulations have reportedly been in place since the department was established in 2020.

A university representative stated, 'We understand that there are workplace etiquette expectations for employment, which is why dress code rules were applied during the graduation exhibition. However, it seems that these regulations were communicated in an overly strict manner, leading to the current issues. We will take action if any violations are found during the investigation.'
