Stray Kids Nominated for Four Categories at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards

Stray Kids has been nominated for four categories at the upcoming 2024 Billboard Music Awards, marking their second consecutive year as nominees. According to an announcement made on the official Billboard Music Awards social media channels on November 25 (local time), the group is up for Top Duo/Group, Top K-Pop Album, and Top Global K-Pop Artist at the awards ceremony scheduled for December 12. Last year, they were nominated for Top K-Pop Album and Top Global K-Pop Artist, and this year they have added the Top Duo/Group category, further solidifying their influence in the music industry.

The Billboard Music Awards, one of the three major music award shows in the United States, saw Stray Kids take home the Top K-Pop Album trophy last year for their third studio album, ★★★★★ (5-STAR), making them the first fourth-generation K-Pop boy group and the second boy group overall to achieve this honor. This year, they have two albums nominated in the Top K-Pop Album category: the mini-album 楽-STAR (락스타) and the album ATE (에이트), making them the only K-Pop artists with two nominations in this category. Notably, in the Top Duo/Group category, they are competing against renowned acts such as blink-182, Coldplay, Fuerza Regida, and Linkin Park, showcasing their elevated status in the industry.

Stray Kids has achieved remarkable success on major Billboard charts, including the Billboard 200 and the Hot 100, which reflect their popularity in the U.S. music market. Since the release of their mini-album ODDINARY in March 2022, followed by MAXIDENT in October 2022, their third studio album ★★★★★ (5-STAR) in June 2023, and the mini-album 楽-STAR in November 2023, they have made history by securing the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart with five consecutive releases. Their title track '락 (樂)' from 楽-STAR marked the first entry for a fourth-generation K-Pop boy group on the Hot 100 chart, and their digital single 'Lose My Breath (Feat. Charlie Puth)' reached number 49 on the Hot 100, setting a new personal best for the group.

In September of last year, Stray Kids won the Best K-Pop category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards for their title track '특' from ★★★★★ (5-STAR). They have continued to receive nominations and awards at various music award shows this year, including wins at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards in February and the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards in April. Additionally, their song 'SLASH' is featured in the soundtrack for the film Deadpool & Wolverine, which has been nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media at the 67th Grammy Awards.
