STAYC Unveils Bold Transformation with New Single 'Bebe'

The K-pop group STAYC has made a striking return with their latest single titled 'Bebe.' Known for their vibrant and youthful sound, the group is taking a bold step in a new direction with their upcoming album 'S.' This marks a significant shift from their previous hits like 'ASAP,' 'Poppy,' 'Teddy Bear,' and 'Bubble.' The teasers for 'Bebe' reveal a daring new look for the group, featuring sharp bob hairstyles, platinum blonde hair, and striking all-black outfits, showcasing their evolution as artists after six years since their debut.
Since their debut in November 2020, STAYC has garnered a large following with their upbeat music. However, with 'S,' they are set to redefine their image, presenting a more mature musical style and concept. Member Yoon expressed hope that fans will positively embrace their new look, while Sumin noted that they aimed to showcase a side of STAYC that fans have never seen before, saying, "I hope you feel that STAYC can do this too."
Aisa added, "As we take on new challenges, we hope you understand our intentions," and Seeun shared her excitement about the comeback, stating, "I hope everyone is surprised by STAYC's new appearance."
The title track 'Bebe' encapsulates the group's transformation, featuring a danceable rhythm, catchy drops, and an addictive chorus. The lyrics express a desire to reveal one's true self through the metaphor of 'Bebe.'
Sumin reflected on the initial fear of trying something different, but after hearing 'Bebe' for the first time, she felt confident that they could pull it off. She described the song as a departure from their usual style, emphasizing that while 'Poppy' was playful, 'Bebe' is more sophisticated.
Seeun found the introduction of the song particularly impressive, noting that it stimulated dopamine with its unique sounds. The group acknowledged that the shift in concept brought some pressure, but they were reassured by their company and producer, who encouraged them to embrace change.
Sumin, who transformed from a sweet black-haired image to a bold platinum bob, shared her initial concerns about the daring outfits but ultimately enjoyed the process. Seeun, now sporting red hair, felt it was time for a visual change, aiming for a more mature and alluring look.
This single is seen as a pivotal moment for STAYC, with Sumin describing it as a metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly, expressing complete satisfaction with their work. Yoon emphasized that this marks the beginning of a new chapter for the group.
Their goals for this comeback include achieving a number one spot on music shows and maintaining a strong presence on music charts. STAYC released their new single 'S' on various streaming platforms on March 18, 2025.
