Stars Join Forces in Protests Against President Yoon Seok-yeol's Impeachment

On December 7, 2024, actors 고현정 (Go Hyun-jung) and 고민시 (Ko Min-shi) took to social media to express their support for the ongoing protests calling for the impeachment of President 윤석열 (Yoon Seok-yeol). Ko Min-shi posted a simple message on her social media, stating '3시' (3 PM) alongside a candle emoji, coinciding with a nationwide candlelight march taking place in front of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, urging for a vote on the impeachment motion.
Similarly, Go Hyun-jung showed her solidarity by commenting with a flame emoji on a post by director 변영주 (Byun Young-joo), who shared a statement from her alma mater, Ewha Womans University, condemning President Yoon's declaration of martial law.
In a more direct critique, singer 이승윤 (Lee Seung-yoon) expressed his frustration on social media, stating that the president's brief apology during a live address earlier that day was insufficient and dismissive of the gravity of the situation. He emphasized that the president's actions should not be taken lightly, especially given the impact of the martial law on ordinary citizens.
On the same day, singer 박혜경 (Park Hye-kyung) voiced her concerns, questioning why the government was ignoring the people's opinions and expressing her deep sorrow over the current state of the nation. She passionately stated that South Korea has always been rebuilt by its citizens and criticized the ruling party and the president for their actions.
Prior to these statements, BIGBANG's leader 지드래곤 (G-Dragon) had also made headlines by liking a post that included a critical message about the martial law, suggesting his tacit agreement with the sentiment.
Rapper 이센스 (E-Sens) and actor 문성근 (Moon Sung-keun) also shared their thoughts on social media, with E-Sens questioning the legitimacy of a president who imposes martial law without understanding the political landscape, while Moon criticized the cowardice of those justifying such actions.
Actor 이엘 (Lee El) reflected on the emotional toll of the protests, sharing a poignant message about the voices of the people being drowned out by the rain, and he also supported a statement from his university condemning the president's actions.
