Squid Game Season 3 Dominates Global Netflix Rankings

The Netflix series Squid Game Season 3 (오징어 게임3) has shown remarkable performance, maintaining the top spot in global rankings for two consecutive weeks. The immense popularity of Squid Game Season 3 has also propelled its predecessors, Squid Game Season 2 (오징어 게임2) and the original Squid Game (오징어 게임), to the second and third positions, respectively.
According to Netflix's viewing statistics released on July 9, Squid Game Season 3 garnered 46.3 million views and a staggering 283.8 million hours of watch time from June 30 to July 5, securing the number one position in both English and non-English TV show categories. The second place in this category went to Waterfront (워터프론트), which achieved 5.6 million views and 36 million hours of viewing time.
Thanks to the success of Squid Game Season 3, its predecessors, Squid Game Season 2 (2024) and Squid Game (2021), ranked second (4.9 million views, 35.1 million hours) and third (3.8 million views, 31.3 million hours) in the non-English TV show category, respectively. Last week, these two shows were in the third and sixth positions.
Squid Game Season 3 continues the story of Seong Gi-hun, who, after failing in a rebellion in the previous season, finds himself participating in the deadly games once again. The series features stars like Lee Jung-jae (이정재), Lee Byung-hun (이병헌), and Lim Si-wan (임시완), with director Hwang Dong-hyuk (황동혁) returning to write and direct this final season.
Additionally, the non-English TV show category includes two more Korean productions alongside the Squid Game series. Unknown Seoul (미지의 서울) ranked sixth with 1.8 million views and 28.6 million hours, while Plaza (광장) secured the eighth position with 1 million views and 5 million hours.
