'Squid Game' Season 2 Premieres in LA with Exciting Fan Event

On December 12, 2024, 'Squid Game' Season 2 made a grand debut in Los Angeles, bringing together fans from around the world. Netflix announced that the premiere included a unique fan event that allowed attendees to engage with the series in an exciting way.

The new season continues the intense rivalry between Gi-hun (이정재), who returns for revenge, and the Frontman (이병헌), as they face off in a new round of deadly games. Ahead of the release, director Hwang Dong-hyuk and cast members including Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Im Si-wan, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee Seo-hwan, and Jo Yu-ri attended the fan event and premiere in LA.

The fan event at the Los Angeles Convention Center featured a 4.56 km running race themed around Gi-hun's player number 456, with around 2,000 fans dressed in 'Squid Game' tracksuits. Director Hwang and the cast greeted the enthusiastic crowd with bright smiles and energetic waves.

Hwang expressed his gratitude, stating, "I will never forget this moment," and thanked the fans for being the best Christmas gift. After completing the race, participants were thrilled to learn they would attend the American premiere of 'Squid Game' Season 2. Lee Jung-jae shared his excitement, saying, "I look forward to many of you watching Season 2 tonight and meeting the new participants here with you." Lee Byung-hun added, "I am also looking forward to the upcoming release of 'Squid Game' Season 2, and I hope you all enjoy it."

New cast member Im Si-wan encouraged fans to watch the season on Netflix, while Yang Dong-geun shouted, "I LOVE LA VIBE!!" to cheers from the crowd. Kang Ae-sim shared her favorite color, saying, "The tracksuit color you’re wearing is my favorite, 'clover.' Luck is already yours, and I hope you find happiness like the three-leaf clover's meaning." Lee Seo-hwan expressed his desire to become friends with the audience, and Jo Yu-ri thanked everyone for braving the cold to join the fun.

In addition to the race, the event featured various interactive zones for fans, including a photo zone with the iconic character Young-hee, a nail art station, and a night market showcasing Korean cuisine, creating unforgettable memories for attendees.

The premiere at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood was a resounding success, with crowds filling the streets, showcasing the immense popularity of 'Squid Game.' During the pre-screening stage greetings, Hwang and the cast expressed their gratitude and anticipation for the show, receiving enthusiastic applause from fans. The theater buzzed with tension throughout the screening, and the audience erupted in applause and cheers at the end, proving the high interest in 'Squid Game' Season 2.

'Squid Game' Season 2 will be available on Netflix starting December 26, 2024.
