Squid Game Season 2 Dominates Global Rankings for Eight Consecutive Days

The Netflix series Squid Game Season 2 has maintained its position at the top of global charts for eight days, showcasing its immense popularity worldwide. According to FlixPatrol, as of January 3, the show ranked first in the TV show category across 80 countries.

Squid Game Season 2 follows Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) as he returns to the deadly games seeking revenge, facing off against the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun) in a fierce battle. The entire season was released on December 26.

Following the phenomenal success of the first season, which created a global phenomenon, the second season has also garnered significant attention since its release. From December 28 to January 1, Squid Game Season 2 held the number one spot in all 93 countries for five consecutive days, and on January 2, it topped the charts in 87 countries.

Additionally, according to Netflix's content news site Tudum, Squid Game Season 2 recorded an impressive 487.6 million viewing hours, surpassing the first season's opening week viewership of 448.7 million hours in 2021.

However, the reception of the series has been mixed, with stark divisions in audience opinions. In South Korea, discussions have arisen regarding the character played by T.O.P, who portrays a drug-using rapper named Thanos, leading to debates and criticisms of the show.
