Squid Game Season 2 Breaks Records in Its Debut Week

Squid Game Season 2 (오징어 게임 시즌2) has set new records right from its premiere week, surpassing the achievements of its first season. According to Netflix's content news site Tudum, the series, written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, topped the non-English TV show rankings for the fourth week of December.
In its debut, Squid Game Season 2 amassed an impressive 487.6 million viewing hours, exceeding the 448.7 million hours recorded by the first season during its opening week in 2021.
With a total runtime of 7 hours and 10 minutes across its seven episodes, this translates to approximately 68 million views. This figure surpasses the previous record held by Netflix's Wednesday (웬즈데이) Season 1, which garnered 50.1 million views in 2022.
Additionally, the viewing hours for the first season of Squid Game have also surged, reaching 67.1 million hours during the same period, marking a significant resurgence in interest.
Squid Game Season 2 has maintained its popularity by ranking first in 92 countries, leading to expectations of setting new all-time high box office records. The season continues the story of Gi-hun (이정재), who returns to the deadly games seeking revenge, and his intense rivalry with the Frontman (이병헌), as the real games commence once again. All episodes were released on Netflix on December 26, allowing fans to dive back into the thrilling world of Squid Game.
