Squid Game 2 Maintains Strong Viewership on Netflix

The highly anticipated second season of Squid Game (오징어 게임2), directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, continues to captivate audiences, securing the fifth spot in viewership among all Netflix content even in its fifth week since release. According to Netflix's official Top 10 site, during the fourth week of January (from the 20th to the 26th), Squid Game 2 garnered 7.9 million views, calculated by dividing the total viewing hours of 56.7 million by its runtime. This achievement marks its second consecutive week at fifth place overall and first among non-English TV shows.

In the same week, the English-language film Back in Action topped the charts with 46.8 million views, followed by the English TV shows The Night Agent 2 (13.9 million views) and XO, Kitty 2 (9.2 million views), along with the non-English film Ad Vitam (8.4 million views).

The non-English TV show rankings also featured several Korean productions alongside Squid Game 2. The series Trauma Center (중증외상센터), starring Ju Ji-hoon, claimed the third position, while the dating reality show Single's Inferno 4 (솔로지옥4) and the first season of Squid Game (오징어 게임1) took the fifth and sixth spots, respectively.

Since 2021, Netflix has been tracking total viewing hours, and since June 2023, it has been reporting view counts based on runtime to provide a clearer picture of the popularity of shorter films and mini-series.
