Spring Arrives in Andong Amidst Forest Fire Recovery Efforts

As spring unfolds in Andong, the aftermath of recent forest fires in Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam continues to be felt. Fortunately, the main fires have been contained, although some areas are experiencing flare-ups. In response, celebrities are stepping up to lend their support.

The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association, led by Chairman Song Pil-ho, announced on March 29 that actors Cha In-pyo and Shin Ae-ra have donated 100 million KRW to aid in the recovery from the forest fires. This donation will be used for emergency relief, provision of essential goods, and the operation of temporary shelters for residents affected by the fires in Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam.

The couple expressed their condolences, stating, "We send our deepest sympathies to those affected by the fires. The mountains may have burned, but hope remains unscathed. You are not alone. Stay strong." Following this contribution, they have been inducted into the Hope Bridge Honor Society, a group of high-value individual donors.

Additionally, Hwasa (Ahn Hye-jin), a member of the girl group Mamamoo and a solo artist, also donated 100 million KRW on the same day. She shared her hopes that her contribution would provide some assistance to those who have lost their homes due to the fires, wishing for a swift return to normalcy for everyone. Like Cha In-pyo and Shin Ae-ra, Hwasa has also become a member of the Hope Bridge Honor Society through her donation.

Actress Park Shin-hye, a member of the Honor Society, contributed 50 million KRW to support the victims of the forest fires.

Singer Young-tak donated 100 million KRW, and his fan club, Young-tak and Blues, raised a total of 153,135,525 KRW from 2,431 fans who voluntarily contributed.

Other notable donations include influencer Chummi and her followers (150 million KRW), production company Theo (approximately 116.88 million KRW), producer Code Kunst (20 million KRW), and artists Kei from Lovelyz and Ken from VIXX, each donating 10 million KRW.

The forest fires, which began on March 22 in Uiseong, have tragically claimed the lives of 24 residents and one helicopter pilot over the course of seven days, devastating a record area of forest. According to Gyeongbuk Province, the fires have burned a total of 45,157 hectares, affecting regions including Uiseong (12,820 hectares), Andong (9,896 hectares), Cheongsong (9,320 hectares), Yeongyang (5,070 hectares), and Yeongdeok (8,050 hectares).
