Special Prosecutor's Team Imposes Travel Ban on Kim Geon-hee and Associates

The Special Prosecutor's Team investigating allegations against Kim Geon-hee, the wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, has placed a travel ban on her and over 20 related individuals. According to legal sources on July 2, the team applied to the Ministry of Justice for the travel restrictions after taking over the case from the prosecution. Kim Geon-hee was already under a travel ban due to an investigation into her alleged involvement in the nomination of Myung Tae-kyun, but the change in oversight to the Special Prosecutor's Team necessitated a new application. Typically, investigative bodies impose travel bans to prevent suspects from fleeing abroad during ongoing investigations. This is the first time the public has learned of Kim Geon-hee's travel ban. With the Special Prosecutor's Team securing the custody of key associates, it is expected that the process of summoning suspects for questioning will proceed swiftly. On the same day, the team held an inauguration ceremony and officially commenced their investigation, which encompasses 16 different allegations. The team, consisting of four special prosecutors, will manage two to three teams to conduct simultaneous investigations.
