Special Prosecutor's Team Conducts Search at Architecture Firm Linked to Kim Geon-hee
On July 21, 2025, the special prosecutor's team investigating various allegations against Kim Geon-hee, the wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, initiated a search at the offices of HeeRim Architects (희림종합건축사무소) in Gangdong-gu, Seoul. HeeRim is known to be the largest sponsor of Kim's former company, Kobana Contents (코바나콘텐츠).
According to legal sources, the search began in the morning and is part of a forced investigation related to allegations of lobbying for the Unification Church (세계평화통일가정연합) concerning a Cambodian Official Development Assistance (ODA) project.
The Unification Church is accused of delivering gifts worth approximately 60 million KRW, including a Graff diamond necklace and two Chanel bags valued at 10 million KRW each, to Kim Geon-hee through a figure known as 'Geonjin Beopsa' (건진법사), Jeon Seong-bae. The special prosecutor's team has obtained a text message from a former Unification Church leader, Yoon, who suggested meeting with HeeRim's representative to discuss a 'big picture' plan around December 2022.
HeeRim has been identified as a 'supporting company' for Kim Geon-hee, having sponsored three exhibitions organized by Kobana Contents from 2015 to 2018. Following Yoon Suk-yeol's inauguration, HeeRim also secured a contract for remodeling the Yongsan Presidential Office. The special prosecutor's team aims to determine whether HeeRim is implicated in the ongoing allegations surrounding the Unification Church.
