Special Prosecutors Launch Investigation into Drone Operations Command Amid North Korean Incursion Allegations

On July 14, 2025, the special prosecutors investigating the alleged North Korean drone incursion began a forced search of the Drone Operations Command located in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province. The residence of Commander Kim Yong-dae in Gyeonggi Province was also included in the search.
The investigation centers around allegations that former President Yoon Suk-yeol sent drones to Pyongyang in October of last year to provoke North Korea, thereby justifying the declaration of a state of emergency. The special prosecutors have obtained a transcript of a military officer stating that he heard Commander Kim refer to a 'V (former President Yoon) directive.' This officer was recently summoned for questioning.
When the special prosecutors requested an arrest warrant for former President Yoon on July 6, they did not include these related charges.
