Song Joong-ki Expresses Heartfelt Sentiments for 'Bogotá'

On January 12, a special guest event for the film 'Bogotá: The Land of Last Chances' took place at the Megabox Seongsu in Seoul, featuring actors Song Joong-ki and Lee Hee-joon, along with Lee Sung-min, who has collaborated with them on various projects. During the event, Lee Sung-min shared his concerns about the current state of cinema, stating, "I felt a pang in my heart seeing the empty parking lot. It seems like there are no audiences in theaters. There are many reasons for this, but it’s tough for actors when there are no viewers. It’s especially hard to release a film during such times; it makes me feel hopeless." He urged the audience to support their film until the end.

Lee Hee-joon also expressed his disappointment over the film's performance, saying, "Although our results are lower than expected, it’s precious to greet each of you who came today. This film is incredibly meaningful to us, especially after overcoming the challenges of the past five years due to COVID-19. Thank you for your continued interest. This is officially our last promotional event for 'Bogotá,' and I’m so happy to finally present a film that has been close to my heart since five years ago."

The most touching moment came from Song Joong-ki, who reflected, "With today’s event, all schedules related to 'Bogotá' are completely finished. It’s an honor to share this final moment with Senior Lee Sung-min. As he mentioned, the current situation for Korean cinema is very challenging. We are grateful just to have our film in theaters right now."

He continued, "Because of this, I’ve worked harder than ever to promote the film. I wanted to share it and present it beautifully. Even if I fall short and face criticism, I tried my best to make the situation better. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who watched the film."

Song Joong-ki emphasized, "The role of actors is to create good content that provides comfort to audiences who are struggling. We will strive to produce diverse and entertaining works to support you all. I find myself getting emotional as I speak, but I truly want to say thank you."

As of January 15, 'Bogotá' ranked sixth at the box office, with approximately 400,000 cumulative viewers, according to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system.
