Song Joong-ki Embraces a Bold Transformation in 'Bogotá'

Actor Song Joong-ki is set to showcase a new side of his acting skills in the upcoming film 'Bogotá: The Land of Last Chances.' During a production briefing held on December 6 at the Megabox COEX in Gangnam, Seoul, he shared insights about his character and preparation for the role.
Song Joong-ki revealed that while observing locals during pre-production, he considered wearing earrings to better embody his character. The film, which premieres on December 31, follows the story of Guk-hee (played by Song Joong-ki), who travels to Bogotá, Colombia, in search of hope after the IMF crisis. He becomes entangled with influential figures in the Korean community, including Su-yeong (Lee Hee-joon) and Sergeant Park (Kwon Hae-hyo). Directed by Kim Sung-jae, known for 'Minority Opinion,' the film explores themes of ambition and survival.
Describing his character, Song stated, "Guk-hee is a young man filled with intense desires. He is driven by the need to survive, which can be seen as a form of responsibility. The character's journey begins and ends with his father, played by Kim Jong-soo, although it’s not a pleasant arc. Guk-hee possesses a burning desire to survive and take on responsibility in this new environment."
In addition to his acting, Song Joong-ki emphasized his focus on his appearance for this role. He admitted, "I usually don’t like wearing accessories, and I’ve never bought jewelry myself. However, during pre-production with Hee-joon and Hae-hyo, I observed the locals and thought about trying earrings. When I mentioned this to the costume director, they had the same idea. This project has pushed me to try many new things."
