Song Joong-ki Discusses Colombia and His New Film 'Bogotá: The Land of Last Chances'

On December 19, a press screening for the film 'Bogotá: The Land of Last Chances' was held at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. During the event, actor Song Joong-ki shared insights about Colombia, the film's shooting location. He mentioned, "My mother-in-law is Colombian, and many of my wife's family members live there."
Set to release on December 31, 'Bogotá' follows the story of Guk-hee (played by Song Joong-ki), who travels to Bogotá, Colombia, in search of new hope. There, he becomes entangled with influential figures in the Korean community, such as Su-young (Lee Hee-joon) and Sergeant Park (Kwon Hae-hyo). Directed by Kim Sung-jae, known for 'Minority Opinion,' the film portrays Guk-hee as a young man aspiring to rise from the lowest to the highest echelons of society.
Addressing concerns about potential negative perceptions of Colombia due to the film, Song stated, "My mother-in-law is Colombian, so I have family there. I’ve heard that there have been efforts to change the old, negative images associated with the country. My experiences in Colombia were filled with joy, warmth, and delicious food. The people are very kind, and I’ve seen their efforts to move away from outdated stereotypes. It feels like a familiar place to me."
He added, "When we were filming, there wasn't much information available about Colombia, but now with the rise of travel YouTubers, I believe many of those old images have been erased. I don’t think our film will contribute to any negative views of the country."
In other news, Song Joong-ki married British actress Katie Louise Saunders in January of last year and they have two children together.
