Song Jae-hee Opens Up About Losing His First Twin

On the June 23 episode of SBS's 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny' (동상이몽 시즌2 너는 내 운명), actor Song Jae-hee shared a heartfelt story about the loss of his first twin. Despite the joyful news of his wife, Ji So-yeon, being pregnant with twins again, he found it difficult to celebrate.
After finishing an early morning live broadcast, Song Jae-hee prepared breakfast for their daughter, Ha-el, while Ji So-yeon, who is 20 weeks pregnant with twins, took a morning nap. Once Ha-el finished her meal, Song Jae-hee quickly cleaned the table and organized the toys, emphasizing, "I must do the dishes before leaving."
While caring for his daughter, he also practiced his lines for an upcoming play, stating, "I’m looking at the script because I’m going into a theater production." Ji So-yeon expressed her gratitude, saying, "I appreciate that you’re helping with the kids, but since we have limited time together, I wish you could talk and read to her more since she’s a bit slow with her words."
Lee Ji-hye chimed in, stressing the importance of communication with children at that age, while Lee Hyun added that immediately cleaning up toys is something parenting experts advise against. Song Jae-hee humorously countered, "That parenting expert must not be good at cleaning."
After getting their daughter ready for school, Ji So-yeon woke up, and Kim Sook joked, "She only gets up when her husband takes care of everything!" Ji So-yeon remarked that she rarely has such leisurely mornings, even on weekends.
Later in the episode, Ji So-yeon shared her feelings of disappointment with Song Jae-hee. She recalled how he was incredibly supportive during her first pregnancy, even going out of his way to get her apples when she craved them. However, when she announced the pregnancy of twins, he advised her to remain calm and didn’t express much joy, which left her feeling hurt.
Song Jae-hee explained that he struggled to celebrate the pregnancy because of their previous experience with twins. He recalled the moment he was told that one of the twins was lost, saying, "When the doctor told us, I felt like my heart stopped."
He added that Ji So-yeon, being pregnant and already having one child, couldn’t show her emotions at the time, but later, she cried a lot. "It was incredibly painful to feel like one child was gone," he shared. He also mentioned that the doctor suggested they wait and see, which made it hard for him to accept the twins. He empathized with Ji So-yeon, realizing that she must have been hurting too. Ji So-yeon’s father responded, "Now I understand."
