Song Hye-kyo's 'The Black Nuns' Surpasses 1 Million Viewers in Just Six Days

'The Black Nuns' (검은 수녀들), starring Song Hye-kyo, has achieved a remarkable milestone by attracting over 1 million viewers just six days after its release. As of January 29, the film has accumulated a total of 1 million attendees, up from 890,000 the previous day. This makes it the second Korean film released this year to surpass the 1 million mark, following 'Hitman 2' (히트맨2), which also crossed this threshold earlier on the same day.

'The Black Nuns' serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2015 film 'The Priests' (검은 사제들), which garnered 5.44 million viewers. The story revolves around Sister Unia, who defies the church's opposition to save a child possessed by an evil spirit, and Sister Michaela, who initially relies on medicine but ultimately joins Sister Unia in her mission.

In this film, Song Hye-kyo portrays Sister Unia, while Jeon Yeo-bin plays Sister Michaela. This marks Song Hye-kyo's return to Korean cinema after an 11-year hiatus since her last film, 'My Brilliant Life' (두근두근 내인생) in 2014. The film is directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae, known for works like 'Count' (카운트) and 'The Outlaws' (해결사).
