Song Hye-kyo Returns to the Big Screen with 'The Black Nuns'

On December 16, actress Song Hye-kyo shared her thoughts on returning to the screen with the film 'The Black Nuns' after her acclaimed role in 'The Glory'. The production briefing for 'The Black Nuns' took place at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul, attended by director Kwon Hyuk-jae and cast members including Song Hye-kyo, Jeon Yeo-been, Lee Jin-wook, and Moon Woo-jin.

'The Black Nuns' (directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae, distributed by NEW, produced by Film Company Jip) tells the story of individuals who engage in forbidden rituals to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.

Following her powerful performance in Netflix's 'The Glory', which received widespread acclaim, Song Hye-kyo takes on the role of Sister Unia, who goes to great lengths to prepare rituals to rescue the boy.

When asked why she chose 'The Black Nuns' as her comeback project after 'The Glory', Song Hye-kyo admitted, "I was curious about what project I would choose next. I received so much love from 'The Glory' that I felt a bit of pressure for my next work. It seems like fate brought me to this project."

She continued, "After acting in a genre piece like 'The Glory', I found new excitement in exploring different types of performances. I started looking at scripts and screenplays with a focus on genre works, which led me to 'The Black Nuns'. I had a feeling that acting in 'The Black Nuns' would allow me to showcase a different side of myself."

When asked if she is challenging herself to become a 'genre goddess', she laughed and replied, "I still have a long way to go. I will work hard to reach that point."

'The Black Nuns' is set to hit theaters on January 24, 2025.
