Song Ga-in Expresses Regret Over Diminished Popularity Post 'Mr. Trot'

On the November 27 episode of MBC's talk show Radio Star (라디오스타), Song Ga-in (송가인) shared her feelings about the distribution of her popularity following her appearance on the hit show 'Mr. Trot' (미스터트롯).

During the special segment titled 'Sisters, Power Up,' which featured Baek Ji-young (백지영), Kim Ji-yoon (김지윤), Song Ga-in, and Lee Sa-bae (이사배), Song revealed that her schedule has been packed for the past ten months. She mentioned, "I am currently preparing a regular album. This time, I want to focus more on traditional trot music. I want to be careful with it, so I have received some songs from a well-known teacher."

Song Ga-in proudly announced that she received a song from the legendary Shim Soo-bong (심수봉), stating, "It was the first time the teacher gave a song to a junior. I feel so honored to have received the first song. The teacher has been very meticulous in helping me practice and even wrote and composed the song herself."

She also expressed her desire to be a guest at Shim Soo-bong's upcoming concert in December.

In addition to her music career, Song Ga-in has taken on the role of CEO, having established her own agency called GainDal Entertainment (가인달 엔터). She explained, "My contract with my previous agency ended, so I decided to set up my own. I looked for names, but 'Ga-in' and 'Song' were already registered. I thought it wouldn't work, so I named it GainDal after my song 'Seoul's Moon' (서울의 달), incorporating 'moon' into the name."

Among the many titles she holds, Song Ga-in expressed that being called the 'National Singer' (국민가수) resonates with her the most. She shared, "I have a strong regional identity, and I often get invited to national events. I think I've performed at these events every time the government changed. I also attend many events in Gyeongsang Province."

However, she candidly admitted that her popularity has waned since 'Mr. Trot,' saying, "After 'Mr. Trot' aired, many of my fans shifted their attention to the male contestants. My popularity has been somewhat diluted. I even imagined that if I had been born a man, I might have become like Na Hoon-a (나훈아)."
