Song Baek-kyung's Determination Shines in 'Salim Nam 2'

In the latest episode of KBS2TV's variety show Salim Nam 2 (살림남2), which aired on March 22, 2025, the determination of singer Song Baek-kyung (송백경) was prominently featured. The episode showcased Park Seo-jin's (박서진) preparations for a busking event as part of a viewership pledge, alongside the daily life of Song Baek-kyung, who juggles his responsibilities as a head of the household while living a life that feels like it's always 24 hours short.

Park Seo-jin aimed to gather fellow artists for the busking event after achieving a viewership rating of 7.5%. He reached out to his close friend, Lee Chan-won (이찬원), who responded enthusiastically, saying, "If it hits 7.5%, that means we're number one on Saturday, right? If it goes up, won't you fulfill your pledge? I watch Salim Nam regularly, so just call me!"

Park Seo-jin then suggested, "If we surpass 8%, would you join me? Should we set a date?" to which Lee Chan-won agreed, promising to participate.

The episode also introduced Song Min-jun (송민준) and Choi Soo-ho (최수호), who seemed more interested in the celebrity Park Hyo-jung (박효정) than in Park Seo-jin. Choi Soo-ho playfully pointed out that Park Seo-jin was being rude to Park Hyo-jung, while Song Min-jun chimed in, saying, "You’re not even speaking properly!" However, a surprising twist revealed that Choi Soo-ho was actually three years younger than Park Hyo-jung, leading to a moment of silence when they shared their ages.

While Song Baek-kyung leads a quiet life during the day, his nights are vibrant. He runs an izakaya with his mother, where his photos are displayed, and he often serves customers, showcasing his singing talent with impromptu performances. He expressed pride in the establishment, stating, "This place is known as the izakaya run by One Time's Song Baek-kyung."

Eun Ji-won (은지원) remarked on the stark contrast between Song Baek-kyung's public persona and his private life, saying, "I thought you wanted to stay under the radar. Why is there such a difference between day and night?" Song Baek-kyung explained, "I used to hide a lot, but now I'm more open and involved in business," while Baek Ji-young (백지영) praised him, saying, "As a father of two and the head of a household, this is the best way to go about it."

Song Baek-kyung's business heavily relies on his mother, who is a seasoned veteran in the restaurant industry. She shared her story, saying, "I've been in the restaurant business for a long time. My husband passed away when our child was 14, and I had to jump into serving and restaurant work immediately." She manages the kitchen efficiently, even taking on closing duties alone. Despite the challenges, she expressed her love for her son, saying, "It's really tough, and my shoulders hurt, but I want my son to have an easier time. Working together gives me strength. We’ve grown closer since he got married and moved away, and now we work side by side."

She concluded with a heartfelt message, saying, "I don’t know how long I can help, but I love you," adding, "This is the first time I’ve said I love you," as she smiled shyly, filled with affection for her son.
