Son Seok-koo Discusses Unique Visuals of 'Nine Puzzle' at Disney Showcase

Son Seok-koo shared his thoughts on collaborating with Disney once again for 'Nine Puzzle' during the Disney Showcase held at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. This event, which took place on November 21, 2024, highlighted content from the Asia-Pacific region, including announcements from Disney+ Korea and Disney+ Japan.

'Nine Puzzle' is a mystery thriller drama that revolves around 'Ina' (played by Kim Da-mi), the sole witness to an unsolved case and a current profiler, and 'Han Saem' (Son Seok-koo), a detective who continues to suspect her. Together, they delve into the secrets of a series of murders that have resurfaced alongside mysterious puzzle pieces. The project has generated excitement, especially with the collaboration of Son Seok-koo, who received acclaim for his role in 'Casino', Kim Da-mi from 'That Summer', and director Yoon Jong-bin, known for the film 'The Outlaws: The Bad Guys' Era.

Kim Da-mi commented on her character, stating, "I believe that Ina has a unique profiling style. I researched profilers extensively to create something distinctive for Ina. I worked hard to showcase various aspects of her character."

Son Seok-koo emphasized the distinctiveness of the series, saying, "Unlike typical detectives, the visuals and emotions in this drama are unique and different from what you usually see in Korean crime dramas. The chemistry between a detective and a profiler, who is even more unique than him, adds an unexpected dynamic. The unique content and visuals are definitely a strong point of the show."

Director Yoon Jong-bin expressed his intrigue with the script, noting, "What fascinated me most was the unpredictability of the story. Each of the 12 episodes contains twists that keep viewers guessing. Both the profiler, Yoon Ina, and the detective, Kim Han-saem, possess unique character traits that are not typically found in standard crime dramas. We aimed to break away from conventional crime and thriller narratives to present a fresh take on the genre, ensuring that the identity of the culprit remains a mystery until the end."

The Disney Showcase, which took place over two days starting November 20, 2024, allowed attendees to preview upcoming works from The Walt Disney Company. Approximately 500 journalists, influencers, and Disney partners from 12 Asia-Pacific countries, including South Korea, Singapore, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia, were present at the event.
